Dr. Ashwin Rajenesh is a Senior Consultant Physician with 16 years of clinical experience in internal medicine and emergency care. He currently serves as Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine, and Chief of Acute Care Medicine & Trauma, at NS Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences, Kollam, Kerala.

He trained in internal medicine at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, completing his MD (General Medicine) there in 2016, following his MBBS from Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College (University of Kerala) in 2010. At CMC, he worked across general internal medicine, acute care and toxicology, infectious diseases, clinical epidemiology and diagnostic medicine, women's health and obstetric medicine, and emergency and trauma care.

His clinical interests centre on acute and diagnostic internal medicine and the ambulatory management of complex, chronic, and hard-to-diagnose conditions. Within this, he runs a dedicated online clinic for chronic post-viral syndromes, including long COVID and ME/CFS — conditions he has also contributed to at a research level, including as a co-author on a global expert consensus on long COVID clinical evaluation.

His clinical approach is built on meticulous history-taking and physical examination, and a logical, contextual, and evidence-based method — following a sequential, algorithmic pathway from presentation to diagnosis and management, and favouring a harm-reduction approach wherever a course of intervention carries trade-offs.

He is also Professor and thesis guide for the DNB Emergency Medicine postgraduate program, and holds hospital leadership roles chairing the Clinical Audit, Code Blue, and Disaster & Mass Casualty Incident committees. He has a particular interest in hospital administration and health systems management, and in hospital planning and design.
